Hello Kansas Wheat.
Most of the time, when we talk about the Drought Monitor, we zoom in on The Great Plains…
But the Great Plains don’t have any current concerns…UNLESS we focus on the Upper Great Plains, mainly the Dakotas and Eastern Montana.
And then we see it. And think “it’s dry in spring wheat country. Hmm. Big deal” and move on.
All the USA spring wheat is planted, and most of Canada is finished by now, so a good rain would go a long way to making a crop.
When is that coming? And that’s the issue. You guys know as well as anyone that persistent dry patterns are hard to break. When they do, it’s usually with a deluge, and life goes on. But like the Big Speculator told me “You know, one year it never did rain”.
