PRESS RELEASE: NAWG Submits Comments to EPA’s Interim Registration of Glyphosate
On September 3, 2019, the National Association of Wheat Growers submitted comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s interim registration decision for glyphosate (Docket Number: EPA-HQ-OPP-2009-0361-2340). NAWG also issued a release highlighting the comments which can be found here.

USDA Opens 2019 Enrollment for Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage Programs
On September 5, 2019, the USDA announced that it has begun offering agricultural producers the ability to sign up for the Agriculture Risk Cover (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2019 crop year. For interested producers, please note that the deadline to sign up is March 15, 2020.
The 2018 Farm Bill reauthorized and made updates to these two USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) programs. ARC provides income support payments on historical base acres when actual crop revenue declines below a specified guarantee level. PLC program provides income support payments on historical base acres when the price for a covered commodity falls below its effective reference price. Wheat is one of the multiple crops covered under these programs.

USMCA Day of Action, September 10th
On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, the USMCA Coalition will hold a day of action. NAWG encourages states to participate on this day of action by pushing out content supporting the USMCA agreement on everyone’s social media platforms. Soil Health Partnership Field Day
The National Wheat Foundation (NWF) along with the Soil Health Partnership held its second wheat field day on September 3rd in Beloit, KS on Mike Jordan’s farm. NAWG’s Environmental Policy Advisor and SHP Steering Committee Member Keira Franz, along with Foundation Chairman Wayne Hurst, attended the field day. Farmers for Free Trade Rally for USMCA
On Thursday, September 12, 2019, Farmers for Free Trade will hold a rally in Washington, D.C. welcoming the #MotorcadeForTrade tour bus home after 20,000 miles traveling across the United States. The rally, in support of UMSCA, will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am at West Side of 3rd Street, S.W. – Near the U.S. Botanic Garden. NAWG President Ben Scholz, Vice President Dave Milligan, former Board of Director Michelle Erickson-Jones, and NAWG staff will be in attendance and participating in the event.
