Mark your calendars! The 2024 Prairie Grains Conference, slated for Dec. 11-12 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, has solidified its agenda and locked in its keynote speakers, which include CHS President and CEO Jay Debertin, NDAWN Director and North Dakota State Climatologist Daryl Ritchison and Frayne Olson, crop economist and marketing specialist with North Dakota State University Extension.
“We are very excited to welcome our keynote speakers to the Prairie Grains Conference,” said Brian Sorenson, executive director of the Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers (MAWG). “As always, it’s going to be a conference you won’t want to miss.”
A joint program between MAWG, the Minnesota Barley Growers Association (MBGA) and the North Dakota Grain Growers Association (NDGGA), the Prairie Grains Conference is a highly anticipated annual event, bringing together producers, researchers and industry experts from across the region for two days of learning and networking. This year’s robust agenda includes wheat and soybean research reporting sessions, diverse breakout sessions and plenty of opportunities to peruse the exhibit hall.
“The Prairie Grains Conference is a great chance for us as producers and industry leaders to get together and discuss how things worked out in 2024, and learn more about where we’re heading in 2025,” MAWG President Kevin Leiser said.
Attendees won’t want to miss this year’s esteemed keynote speakers. On Thursday, Dec. 12, Debertin will take the stage at 9:10 a.m., highlighting the current state of agriculture and energy supply chains as well as what’s ahead for 2025, including factors influencing grain, fertilizer and fuel prices and how they impact agriculture. Olson will follow Debertin at 10 a.m. to review the current supply and demand conditions for U.S. and global corn, soybean and wheat markets and provide an outlook for future price direction. After lunch, Ritchison will discuss the types of changes he foresees for the next growing season and will fill the crowd in on the latest news on NDAWN’s expansion into Minnesota.
